Normally we welcome winter – curling up on the couch, watching holiday movies wrapped in fuzzy warm blankets and sipping spiced cider makes for a perfect winter day! But this year is a little different – it’s likely the last winter of our work sabbatical and there are so many places to see and disc golf courses to play so we’re heading out in search of warmer weather! Our original plan was to head east through Montana, drop down into South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and land in Texas but very cold weather and snow moved in so going east was not an option. Our van, Birdie (to clarify…we play disc golf so Birdie means one under par, not ya know…flipping a birdie!) is a Ford Transit 250 with rear-wheel drive – include the weight we added by converting her into a cozy living space and snowy, icy roads would be a disaster! So we’re opting for Plan B which is to drive like mad until we hit warmer weather in California and then slow roll to Texas with long stops in Arizona and New Mexico!
